Viking Arms 2018 Dealer Day

I’ve just returned from the Vikings Arms 2018 Dealer Day which I attend with Sam Harrison, Trade Manager.  Wow, what a fantastic event, they really know how to entertain. As I manage the behind the scenes operations I rarely get out in the field so this was a fantastic opportunity to network and try different styles of shooting.

My clay pigeon shooting improved over the course of the two days, which was completely due to the excellent tuition from the lovely BASC staff whom were very helpful and patience! I tried both rifle and clay shooting but leaned towards a preference for clay, I found it very rewarding to see them smash into pieces probably helped by the cartridges supplied by Hull Cartridge Company.

Whilst I was honing my novice shotguns skills with the Basc Shotgun Coaches, Sam was testing out the new Ruger Precision Rifle in .308 which he rated extremely highly with an extremely nice and crisp trigger. Sam also shot the Breda Steel Plate Challenge with 1 attempt of load 3 and shoot alternate plates and load and shoot a further 3 in a time of 6.8 seconds,  unfortunately this was a fraction too slow to win the completion but came in second place and missed out on a bottle of whiskey for the winner who completed the challenge in 6.42 seconds!

The event was hosted at the beautiful Swinton Park Estate, a luxury castle hotel with breath taking views.  The hotel boasts of a multi-million pound spa which I felt compelled to visit.  Spa visits are high on the list as favourite past times and this spa excelled my expectations. It was evident that a lot of design thought had gone into the newly opened spa to make sure their guests had a relaxing, memorable experience. I loved the fact that each lounge table had a call button to enable you to order a G&T with minimal effort. I rate it as the best I’ve visited to date.

Viking Arms Dealer Day

Games and Flames served up a venison lunch on the first day which was amazing and went down very well. I was sorry to miss out on the Salmon the next day as it looked divine.

A big thank you to Viking Arms for the invitation and to Jane, Sam and the rest of the Viking Arms team for the fabulous hospitality. Games and Flames for the deerlicious food and Swinton Park Estate for a memorable, luxurious stay.
